Becoming a Single Mom
When I had my first child I was married and when I saw my friend who was a single mother do what she did for her and her son I was in awe. I would have never thought months later I would be a single mother too.
Just like that I went from living every girls' dream of being married with a baby to a mother raising a child on her own. I went from white picket fences to singing "Thanks For My Child".
I remember being ashamed, embarrassed, afraid and alone. Feeling like I would not make and that I would fail my family, my child and even myself.
This transition was a hard one to swallow in the beginning because I was not raised in a single family household. Although, my parents were divorced they remarried, leaving me to grow up in a two parent household just like GOD had intended when HE created Adam and Eve.
So let's set the record straight women become single mothers for various reasons:
- By Choice
- Divorce
- Never married
- Father of child died
Note: According to the https//singlemothersguide.com 53.3% of single mothers have never been married, which means 47.7 % were married and then become single mothers.
